There were 110 business licenses issued to companies located outside of Alaska during September 2023, according to Alaska’s Department of Commerce.
More than 99.8% of Alaska’s businesses are considered small, with more than 53% of Alaska’s employees working for a small business, according to the U.S Small Business Administration.
A study by Civic Economics found $100 spent at a locally-owned business, puts $68 back into the local economy while the total is just $43 for non-local businesses.
