A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Alaska Commission On Postsecondary Education regarding the compensation details of all state university employees, including those at community colleges, on November 14, 2024.
The request, made by Last Frontier News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks a list of all university employees' compensation with specific fields. These include the employee's name, title, university name, employment type, and compensation amount.
As part of our mission at Last Frontier News to ensure transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these records is essential. We are committed to gathering and reporting news to the public and see this information as crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.
We have requested that these records be provided in an electronic format for ease of analysis and dissemination. Given our role in disseminating information to the public as a media organization, we also requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request.
We await the response from the Alaska Commission On Postsecondary Education and will continue to strive for transparency in all aspects of government operation.
