Washington, DC –U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, both R-Alaska, announced that over $27.7 million in grants have been awarded to Alaska through the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program. Awardees include: Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Bristol Bay Native Corporation, the City and Borough of Juneau, and the Organized Village of Kake.

“When I helped craft the bipartisan infrastructure law, Alaska’s unique needs were front of mind. Helping author the IIJA was one of the most significant efforts I have been a part of during my Senate career, so it’s incredible to now see the continued benefits it brings our state,” said Senator Lisa Murkowski. “This funding will help support significant road, bridge, and transportation projects for Juneau, Dillingham, the Organized Village of Kake, and communities across the state. But on June 23 announcement is about more than just roads and bridges. This is about keeping Alaskans safe and connected – an investment in the future of our great state, and one that I’m proud to have helped make a reality.”

“The bipartisan infrastructure bill that we passed in 2021 wasn’t perfect, but here’s the bottom line: We are a resource-rich but infrastructure-poor state. We have less road miles than Connecticut and we're almost 120-times bigger than that little state,”said Senator Dan Sullivan.“So, getting more infrastructure built—roads, bridges, ports, harbors, ferries—has been a top priority of mine as Alaska’s senator.I am pleased to see key highway provisions of the bipartisan infrastructure legislation I negotiated in the EPW and Commerce Committees come to fruition for communities in our state. These funds will help strengthen our economy, connect our communities, and provide an enhanced quality of life for Alaskans.”
