Christina | DNR Veteran Spotlight

From November 22, 2022 post.

Today’s DNR Veteran spotlight is Christina, who served in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves for 8 years and now works as a Forestry Technician (Fire) Palmer Airtanker Base Manager Alaska DNR - Division of Forestry & Fire Protection - DOF. She’s one of our newest teammates DNR!

Reason for joining DNR: I had the opportunity to manage a large airtanker base in the most beautiful location with great people. I jumped on it!

Parallels between military service and work with DNR: I’m a real life Rosie the Riveter. I was a fighter jet mechanic (Crew Chief) on the A-10 Warthog and U-2 spy plane. I loved aviation so much I stuck with it on the wildland fire side after I separated from the USAF. I love supporting our wildland firefighters!

Why Veterans should consider applying to DNR: I think if you’re looking to still be of service, a sense of camaraderie and a feeling of mission accomplishment, the DNR is a great place to work!

DNR is honored to recognize the military Veterans who served our country before joining the Department to serve Alaskans. Some of these DNR ambassadors are sharing their amazing stories of service during the month of November. Our sincere thanks to all members of the U.S. military.
