In 2019 the Alaska Division of Forestry and its partners launched the “Take Time to Learn Before You Burn” campaign to help prevent the devastating impacts of human caused wildland fires, led by our new mascot and fire prevention officer Spruce Moose.
We set out with the goal of reducing human caused fires by 10% annually through public outreach and education programs. With the tireless help of Division of Forestry staff, cooperating agencies, and the public- we’ve successfully met our goal!
Let’s continue working together during this hot, dry season to keep decreasing these numbers and prevent the next large and destructive Alaskan wildfire. Keep up the good work Alaska and please remember to #TakeTimeToLearnBeforeYouBurn
