Many Americans have waited for President Joe Biden’s inauguration and what he would be committing to the nation.
Compliments and congratulatory statements from both Democrats and Republicans have been sent out to both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Republicans, including Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) who has congratulated Biden and Harris, said the inauguration ceremony was "very well done."
"I thought it was what we needed," she told Capitol Hill reporters.
In his speech, the president called for putting everyone’s effort together to face the challenges and adversaries America has to conquer.
“My fellow Americans, in the work ahead of us, we will need each other. We will need all our strength to persevere through this dark winter,” Biden said. “We are entering what may well be the toughest and deadliest period of the virus. We must set aside the politics and finally face this pandemic as one nation.”
Murkowski said working with the Biden administration is achievable and, "everything is possible."
"We're going to have some issues that we just fundamentally disagree with. But I think, to the president's words, you can still disagree from a policy perspective and you can do so in ways that are still respectful and allow you to continue to work toward other goals."
