Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities issued the following announcement on March 14.
#Juneau The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) opened Thane Road to local traffic. The avalanche hazard still exists and DOT&PF reminds drivers not to stop, park or turn around within the avalanche zone. DOT&PF has scheduled an avalanche hazard reduction mission for 2 pm to 4pm today, March 13, (weather permitting) and Thane Road will be closed during that time. We will provide updates when more information is available.
