Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities issued the following announcement on Feb. 23.

The road is now OPEN. Thank you for your patience, and thanks to our operators for their dedication.

UPDATE 2/23: The road remains closed this morning while crews work to clean up. Please check 511.alaska.gov for the latest updates.

The Richardson Highway is CLOSED until LATE THIS EVENING for avalanche mitigation. A small slide came down at MP 39, prompting our crew to shut the road for this work. 511.alaska.gov will have the latest updates. Thank you all for your continued patience!
