Veteran spotlight: David | Alaska Department of Natural Resources

From November 6, 2022 post.

Today’s DNR Veteran spotlight is David, who served in the Navy for 4 years and now works as a Medical Programs

Coordinator/Paramedic within the Alaska DNR - Division of Forestry & Fire Protection - DOF. He’s been with DNR for 2 years!

Reason for joining DNR: Curious about the Alaska Interagency Fire Medic Program. Wanted to remain in some form of government work.

Parallels between military service and work with DNR: Short answer is yes, my military experience has allowed me to have the tools to be successful as a Paramedic/ Firefighter overseeing our divisional medical resources and management the program efficiently with the tools I acquired as a NCO in the Navy.

Why Veterans should consider applying to DNR: I would encourage other vets to reach out to DNR through the varies divisions and specialties especially the Hot Shot Crews, Heli-attack, and LEO Park Rangers.

DNR is honored to recognize the military Veterans who served our country before joining the Department to serve Alaskans. Some of these DNR ambassadors are sharing their amazing stories of service ahead of Veterans Day on November 11. Our sincere thanks to all members of the U.S. military.
